MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

Regular members are Marines, Marine Veterans, or FMF Navy Corpsmen. United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine Veterans are all welcomed to apply as Associate Members.

WELCOME TO THE WILLIE MORRIS JONES DETACHMENT

The Willie Morris Jones Detachment invites all former Marines, retired Marines, active Duty Marines, FMF Chaplains, and FMF Corpsmen to attend meetings and, if qualified, to join the Detachment and become a full member.
The Detachment is very involved in community activities and participates in most, if not all, military and National holiday programs when possible.

Marine Corps League Purpose

- To preserve the traditions, promote the interest and perpetuate the history of the United States Marine Corps.
- To band together those who are now serving in the United States Marine Corps, eligible FMF Corpsmen and those who have been honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps, together in fellowship, that they may effectively promote the ideals of American freedom and democracy.
- To help fit its members for the duties of citizenship and to encourage them to serve ably as citizens as they have served our nation under arms.
- To hold sacred the memory and history of the men and women who have given their lives to the Nation.
- To foster love for the principles which they have supported by blood and valor since the founding of the Republic.
- To aid voluntarily and to render assistance to all Marines and FMF Corpsmen, uniformed and civilian, as well as their widows and orphans.
- To create a bond of comradeship between those in the service and those who have returned to civilian life.
- To perpetuate the history of the United States Marine Corps and by fitting acts to observe the anniversaries of historical occasions of peculiar interest to Marines.

What We Do

Traditionally Grounded

As our purpose states, we preserve the traditions, promote the interest and perpetuate the history of the United States Marine Corps. If you want to learn firsthand from those who have been there, don't hesitate to visit us.

Veteran Benefits

As keepers of tradition and support to the veteran community, we participate in the following:
- Legislative programs regarding national and state issues which impact military and veterans.
- Veterans Service Programs with claims resulting from active duty service.
- Veterans Affairs Volunteer Service Program which we volunteer assistance in VA hospitals and clinics.

Current Events

Current events that effect veterans has never been more important. We ensure our community of interested, current and former service members understand these impacts.
Stay in touch by email or come join us at any of our functions to understand more and voice your concerns. Our joint effort will ensure information sharing within and to the greater community.

Community Support

We support the following and more:
- Young Marines youth program which emphasizes core values of the Marine Corps
- Boy Scouts of America
- Academic scholarship programs to children of Marines and former Marines.
- Toys for Tots: A program of the U.S. Marine Reserve.

The Willie Morris Jones Detachment meets the first Tuesday night of each month at the Pizza Den on Heritage Drive in Oxford, MS. The meet, eat and greet takes place at 1800 followed by the business meeting at 1900.
